Raku Workshop for Class Members - Various dates
This 2 hour workshop will enable you to start with the basic skills of Raku in the outside kiln.
You will be guided through the process of decorating with raku glazes and firing in the kiln with your tutor Joy Gibbs Price. Joy has taught ceramics for 27 years and is a practicing potter. With expert tuition you will be given demonstrations and careful explanations of the different stages of decoration, firing, cooling and quenching.
The experience runs for 2 hours approx and is completely outside due to Covid restrictions so warm clothes are advisable. The cafe has an outdoor covered area where you can take refreshments. The rule of six will be in place and social distancing so there will only be two/three people firing at the booked time slot.
You are able to collect your Raku clay to make at home (up to 3 pieces) and return two weeks before your raku firing or you can select two pre - made thrown raku clay pots on the day.
